Kite Pharma is a cancer immunotherapy company that develops immune-based therapies for cancer treatment. Sustainability starts with change. Kite Pharma has taken many initiatives to create sustainable changes - from integrating "green chemistry" techniques to reduce chemical waste to working with suppliers that share their sustainability values. Their Santa Monica Green Team promotes a sustainable culture company-wide. They include zero waste / reuse/ recycling education in new hire orientation. Kite Pharma is very proactive in ensuring their employees know about their alternative transportation programs through actively working with the GoSaMo Transportation Management Team (even during the height of the pandemic!) including monetary incentives, preferred parking for carpooling, and bike safety training. Kite Pharma supports environmental groups with cash donations and strong employee volunteer programs. The Santa Monica HQ location is in an EnergyStar Certified facility. Most of Kite Pharma’s facilities run on CPA 100% green power.
Sustainable Quality Award, 2006
All of Koning Eizenberg's projects express a commitment to sustainability and include sustainable design components. They have designed numerous LEED projects including Virginia Avenue Park. Their office is a living laboratory for green building design and highlights a passive solar vented wall, extensive day lighting and natural ventilation to reduce energy use. Photovoltaic panels on the roof allow the staff to enjoy watching the meter go backwards. They also recently purchased a "dual flush" toilet that offers an option for .8 or 1.6 gallon flush. Employees purchase cleaning supplies and office materials locally and often on a bike.
