We are honored to welcome our 2017 Keynote Speaker, John Picard. John Picard is one of the key pioneers in the sustainability movement. Once a builder of some of the largest, most opulent homes in the country, John found the environmental movement and pivoted, applying the principals of sustainability to his industry; construction. The result was the "Greening of the White House" under President Bill Clinton in 1993, establishing the foundation of what would eventually become the US Green Building Council, and a number of "firsts" in the green building movement. Working for firms as diverse as Microsoft, BP, Sony, The Gap, eBay, MGM and countless others, John has left his mark on each place he worked, leaving behind the ideas that eventually make it into our daily lives.
John is truly a pioneer in the arena of building efficiency and energy. 10 years ago, John moved his business and family to the Silicon Valley to again be at the forefront of new building movement. John was able to time the market for the application of technology to drive building efficiency. Once again, John has found himself at the forefront of a transformational movement as sensor networks and edge cloud devices begin to proliferate our built environment. John is a visionary, a futurist, an engineer, a designer, and an innovator. He is working today to digitize and connect all aspects of a building. He is working with dozens of technology companies from around the world which will positively impact our environment for generations to come.
